The vision of CTCF and
BreakThrough Ministries is to provide food, housing and a Christ centered
living environment for 3000+ orphaned and homeless children. Our ultimate goal is to build up a generation
of Christian leaders to help change tomorrow in the QwaQwa region of South Africa. The task
before us is arduous and the obstacles are many. Our needs are great, but
with God, all things are possible.
Seven years
ago, the founder of BreakThrough Ministries, Wim van Rensburg, during prayer,
had a calling from God to leave the comforts of Cape Town and move closer to
the displaced and orphaned children of the QwaQwa Valley. When Wim
returned from work that day he told his wife Hylien
who replied she had the same urgency laid on her heart that very morning.
The van Rensburgs sold everything and moved to
Harrismith, SA.
Wim had a
vision for the children: an orphanage to house the children, foster homes with
loving Christian couples, a community center to serve the village of Leratong and a church to
provide the anchor of faith.
The journey has been hard for the van Rensburgs.
There is no financial support outside of what Wim made from his many employment
skills. The first five years were a struggle to provide food
distribution...once a day...maybe.
In July 2003, I became
acquainted with Wim via email as we both have a passion for motorcycles. We’re both are members of the Christian Sport
Bike Association. It wasn't until December
of 2003 that I learned he ran an outreach ministry. Wim sent a VHS tape explaining
his work and his vision for the children. The
message on that tape changed the direction of my Christian walk.
"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only,
deceiving yourselves." James 1:22
I was
a "hearer only" type of Christian but I wanted to become a "Doer
of the Word". I spread the news about Wim's
ministry and started sending some money to help with the food allocations but
God still laid heaviness on my heart. The weight wasn't lifted until I
committed to traveling to South Africa to see the situation
for myself.
Much has
happened since my first trip to South Africa in 2004:
*The
orphanage/community center is finished.
* The children are receiving food daily.
* The first "foster home" is completed adjacent to the
orphanage. Nine more are planned.
* Christian groups from the US and Europe are
making mission trips to the QwaQwa Valley.
* The Word of God is being taught to the children in our care.
I've learned a lot
about mission trips and being immersed in the Third World. My journeys to
South Africa in 2004, 2005 and 2006 have only deepened my drive and focus to
plant more seeds of caring. I attempt to scatter the seeds; God grows the
concern and reaps the glory.
Then He will answer
them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of
the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ Matthew
25:45

$25.00 a month will make a HUGE difference in the lives of children who
basically have nothing. $25.00 a
month can help raise the Christian leaders of tomorrow in a land currently
without hope.
4.
See if your church might be interested in learning more about
CTCF.
I'll do my best to be available for presentations to your church group
